That period went on to enshrine him in history as the greatest Italian rally driver ever, and one of the top ten in the history of rallying: two-time world champion, winner of 17 world championship events, which included double victories in the famous Monte Carlo Rally and especially the two consecutive ones in the legendary Safari in Kenya.
